Play, Sport & Recreation
King’s Reach will provide facilities for a wide range of activities that are fully accessible to residents and visitors. With the health and fitness of the UK’s children under the spotlight, King’s Reach has been designed to encourage outdoor play and recreation.
Key Principles & Features
• Play areas will be provided to cater for a range of age groups and activities. These will feature play equipped areas as well as large open surfaced spaces for ball games
• Senior and junior size marked sports pitches and a multi-use games area will be laid out for formal sports use
• The local community centre will include a sports hall which can be enjoyed by new and existing residents for a wide variety of uses
• Existing footpaths, rights of way and bridleways will be enhanced to form green corridors and green wedges to provide additional spaces for outdoor activities
• At the centre of King’s Reach will be the main play area for children of all ages. It will be located close to community buildings, a multi-use games area and the school and sports pitches, creating a vibrant public area
• All play areas and other public spaces will be designed to allow for natural supervision and surveillance e.g. play areas that are overlooked by houses
