For a new community to be successful and sustainable, it is vital to create an environment where people feel safe and secure. At King’s Reach, the design team has gone to great lengths to ensure this happens.

Key Principles & Features
• The layout of King’s Reach is based on perimeter blocks, which provide a safe and secure environment through natural surveillance e.g. homes with windows and doors facing the streets

• Most of the non-residential buildings will be located around the Market Square. The square will be surrounded by carefully placed homes to ensure activity during the day and natural surveillance at night

• King’s Reach will be a place that encourages a sense of ownership, respect and territorial responsibility. Public spaces and play areas will be located across the site and designed to encourage community interaction

• Through traffic calming design measures, cyclists and pedestrians will have priority over cars in public areas
