Vision
The world is changing and issues relating to the environment and sustainability have never been so important. At the same time, many of us look to the past and a perceived era of close-knit neighbourhoods and genuine community values.
In designing King’s Reach, the team has drawn on the latest thinking and best practice in creating modern communities, while at the same time incorporating the best bits of the past.
A Local Distinctiveness Study was undertaken throughout the area to help understand the features and characteristics that make up the market towns in the Biggleswade area. Many design principles incorporated in King’s Reach were inspired by existing towns.
The result will be an extension to Biggleswade that has a distinctive contemporary design, reflecting environmental and sustainability considerations, which has been inspired by the architecture of Central Bedfordshire. Its design will help encourage community values by promoting a safe and secure environment.
